delegation from the oil company ExxonMobil will arrive in the country this week to discuss the return of its employees to work in the West Qurna oil field in Basra.
The Basra Oil Company said on Sunday that 30 employees from ExxonMobil, the US, withdrew from an oil field in Basra, towards the offices of the company in Dubai, for security reasons precautionary.
"A delegation from ExxonMobil will arrive in Iraq this week to discuss the return of their employees to work, as well as the agreement on the principles of the South Integrated Project," Iraqi Oil Minister Thamer Ghadhban told state television.
"The staff of the Basra Oil Company are able to produce oil and gas from West Qurna field, and there will be no negative impact on the withdrawal of ExxonMobil employees to continue projects in the oil field."
On Monday and Tuesday of the week, two oil tankers and two Saudi oil pumping stations were hit by two separate attacks, Riyadh said.
"The country has assured foreign companies that all the oil sites in the country are safe," Ghadhban said last Thursday. "Facilities throughout the country are under the protection of the security forces."
