    [rtl](Reuters) - Doubts are growing and evidence of Iran's involvement in attacks on cargo ships off the coast of the UAE, as well as a missile attack in Iraq, is growing.[/rtl]
    [rtl]A senior Pentagon official said the United States blames Iran and its proxies for attacks that recently targeted merchant ships in the Gulf of Oman, as well as a missile attack in the Iraqi capital.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The US military said it had "a high degree of certainty" that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was responsible for bombings of four ships near UAE territorial waters.[/rtl]
    [rtl]On May 12, the UAE Foreign Ministry announced that 4 civilian commercial cargo ships of various nationalities were attacked in the Gulf of Oman near the territorial waters of the Gulf of Oman, towards the eastern coast near Fujairah and in the economic waters of the UAE.[/rtl]
    [rtl]On the other hand, Assistant Admiral Michael Gilday, who revealed the results of the investigations, said that Iran's agents also fired rockets near the US Embassy in Baghdad.[/rtl]
    [rtl]On Sunday evening, a missile landed near the US embassy in the Green Zone in the heart of the Iraqi capital, causing no injuries or damage.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The US official told reporters that the conclusions were based on intelligence and evidence gathered from the region.[/rtl]
    [rtl]US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Iran was very likely to be responsible for the recent attacks in the Gulf.[/rtl]

    The US military on Friday accused the Iranian Revolutionary Guards of being directly responsible for attacks on oil tankers off the UAE this month, describing it as part of a "campaign" from Tehran that prompted the United States to deploy more troops in the region.
    "We attribute the attack on navigation in Fujairah to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards," said Admiral Michael Jilday, director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "The Pentagon has concluded that the adhesive mines used in the attack belonged to the Revolutionary Guards. He refrained from clarifying the "ways of connecting" the mines to their targets.
    The comments came during a Pentagon briefing to give details of US plans to send 900 additional troops, including engineers, to the Middle East to boost US defenses, as well as extending the remaining 600 troops to operate Patriot missile systems.
