US National Security Advisor John Bolton described information his country's intelligence about the Iranian regime's "threat" to the regime and its "threat" as "very serious".[/size]
Bolton said the recent attacks on oil tankers at the Fujairah port of the United Arab Emirates and a pumping station in Saudi Arabia, as well as the attack on Baghdad's Green Zone, were "worrying events about Iran and its customers."
    Congressional criticism
On the other hand, US lawmakers criticized the decision of the administration of President Donald Trump to sell arms to Saudi Arabia and the UAE without returning to Congress.

Democratic Senator Bob Minendez, a senior member of the Congressional Foreign Relations Committee, said he was not surprised by "the Trump administration's failure to give importance to US national security, defending human rights and preferring cooperation with autocratic states such as Saudi Arabia."
For her part, Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein described the Saudi-led war in Yemen as not an emergency but a crime against humanity.
Democratic Sen. Tim Cain was surprised by Trump's disregard of Khashoggi's death, the imprisonment of Saudi women activists and the failed war in Yemen. "What do the Saudis have on Trump?" While Senator Murphy said there was no immediate reason to sell bombs to Saudis in Yemen. .
For his part, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Rep. Michael McCall regretted Trump's decision to use an emergency procedure to pass these sales.
    Action once
Earlier Friday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Trump administration exceeded Congress and decided to go ahead with arms sales to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan, "because any delay could increase the risk to the United States partners at a time of unrest caused by Iran."

"These sales will support Washington's allies and" promote stability in the Middle East and help these countries deter and defend the Islamic Republic of Iran in their confrontation, "Pompeo said in a statement, adding that the decision to bypass Congress was" one-time. "
He disclosed that the arms sales to these three countries amounted to 8.1 billion dollars.
The New York Times reported on Thursday that Pompeo and other senior officials were pushing the White House to resort to a clause in the arms law on "emergency" situations, allowing the president to prevent Congress from freezing arms deals.
This extraordinary measure comes at a time of heightened tension between the United States and Iran. It also comes hours after Trump announced that he ordered an additional 1,500 troops to the Middle East, where already strained relations between Washington and Tehran escalation since the beginning of this month.
"We want to have protection in the Middle East," Trump said at the White House. "We will send a relatively small number of soldiers, most of them to protect ... the number will be around 1,500."
Tension between the two sides has risen in recent weeks after Washington branded the Revolutionary Guards a "foreign terrorist organization." Iran suspended some of its obligations under a nuclear deal in 2015, a year after Washington withdrew from it. The Trump administration tightened its sanctions on the Iranian economy.
The Pentagon sent to the region an aircraft carrier, a warship, B-52 bombers and a Patriot missile battery, after White House national security adviser John Bolton said there were "worrying signs of escalation" from Tehran.
