A number of Democratic Party hopefuls have called for them to run for the US presidential election in 2020 by starting measures to isolate President Donald Trump following remarks by special investigator Robert Mueller.
The California senator, Kamala Harris, said in a twinkle that what Robert Mueller did was essentially to refer isolated measures to Congress.
"Congress now has to hold this president accountable," she said. "We have to start isolation ... It is our constitutional duty."
In his report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, Muller identified at least 10 cases, saying Trump had obstructed the work of the judiciary.
But Muller, in his first public comments on Wednesday, since the report was published, said the Justice Department's policy prevented him from charging a president with a crime.
According to the Constitution, the Congress can take any further step, according to the former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
"Moller's remarks clearly show that those who read his report know: it is a referral of isolation measures, and the Congress has the right to act," said Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren.
Sen. Corrie Boker, who is also a candidate for the election, said that "Muller's statements clearly show that Congress has a legal and moral duty to initiate immediate isolation."
San Antonio's former mayor, Democrat Julian Castro, who is hoping to win the Democratic nomination for the election in 2020, said Moller "made it clear this morning that his investigations are now going to Congress."
"No one is above the law, Congress should initiate investigations into the launch of isolation measures."
"There must be consequences, accountability and justice," said former Texas congressman Peto Urok. "The only way to ensure that is to start isolation measures."
Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, for her part, did not rush to start such actions against the Republican President.
"I thank Special Inspector Muller for the work that he and his team have done to provide a case for future action in both Congress and the courts regarding Trump's involvement in Russian interference and obstruction of the investigation," said the president of the council, in which the removal of the presidents is being carried out.
"Congress considers its constitutional responsibility to investigate and hold the president accountable for his abuse of power, sacred."
"Congress will continue to investigate and enact laws to protect our elections and ensure our democracy," Pelosi said, stressing that "the American people must know the truth."
"All options are on the table and nothing should be ruled out," said Judy Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
