Queen Elizabeth Trump: a great woman
London: US President Donald Trump described Queen Elizabeth II as a "great woman" after the British royal family has established a luxury banquet for the master of the White House on the first day of the state makes to the UK three - day visit.
The Trump family joined the British royal family at a lavish dinner at the ballroom at Buckingham Palace.
Both Trump and Queen Elizabeth, 93, praised the common ties between Britain and the United States.
But the atmosphere of rapprochement was not the only one dominating the visit, with the announcement of the organization of protest demonstrations Tuesday and the boycott of opposition figures for the dinner.
Trump pre-empted the visit by expressing his opinion of the sensitive Brikst file, as well as the problems of British politics. Shortly after his plane landed in London, he quickly described its president Sadiq Khan as "the loser".
Trump is visiting Britain to mark the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landing and the liberation of Europe in World War II.
"While we honor our shared victory and heritage, we reaffirm the common values that will keep us united in the future," he said at the dinner. "Freedom, sovereignty, self-determination, rule of law and respect for the rights given to us by Almighty God."
Trump described the British Queen as "a great woman ... a lasting symbol of these priceless traditions," embodying Britain's "dignity, responsibility and patriotism."
Queen Elizabeth II said Britain and the United States, in the postwar period, have built international institutions for "nations working together to maintain a hard-won peace."
She said the two countries share issues including common security, heritage and strong economic and cultural ties. "I am confident that our common values and interests will keep us united."
Queen Elizabeth received the US president and his wife Melania with a show of honor. And then held a luncheon for Tramb and his wife and offered them a royal art collection.
"The London section of the visit is very well done," said Trump. "The queen and all the members of the royal family are fantastic, and the relations with the UK are very strong."
"I have not seen any protests yet, but I am sure misleading media will actively seek to find them."
