Saudi Aramco's chief executive said on Tuesday that the company was concerned about recent events in the Gulf but could meet the needs of its customers thanks to its expertise and availability of spare capacity.
"What is happening in the Gulf is certainly a concern," Amin al-Nasser told Reuters in an interview.
"At the same time, we have experienced a number of crises in the past," he said. "We have always demonstrated our commitment to customers and we have flexibility ... and additional spare capacity is available."
Attacks on tankers in the Gulf have recently raised concerns about the safety of one of the main shipping routes and pushed oil prices higher.
Nasser said that Aramco had no plan to increase its maximum production capacity of 12 million barrels per day, given the large volume of excess capacity.
