(Al-Furat News) Princess Rima bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz began her duties on Thursday as the first woman ambassador to the United States.
"I started my mission as the Kingdom's ambassador to the United States today," Princess Rima Bint Bandar said in a tweet on her official Twitter account. "I ask God and my colleagues to succeed in our mission to serve our beloved country."
"I am honored to be the first woman ambassador to the United States of America, and I will work with every effort to strengthen the relations between the two countries."
Rima bint Bandar is the first woman to hold this position in the history of Saudi Arabia.
On April 16, Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz issued a Royal Decree appointing Princess Rima Bint Bandar as the Kingdom's ambassador to Washington, succeeding Prince Khalid bin Salman, King's son.
