The United States Department of Commerce
announced on Tuesday the imposition of new tariffs on some steel products imported from Mexico and China.
The US site " cnbctv " that the US administration decided to impose new customs duties on some goods from Mexico and China.
And why the imposition of customs duties on these two countries specifically, the site pointed out that the US administration considered that the two countries gave to their factories amounts of unfair support.
According to the US Department of Commerce, steel products imported for building uses benefit from government support in China, Mexico and Canada, but in the case of Canada, the amount of support is small, so no fees were charged in return.
The decision came after a complaint filed by US steel producers in February, two months after US President Donald Trump agreed to cancel tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Mexico and Canada after the three countries approved the revised North American Trade Agreement.
