A member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, Asaad al-Abadi, on Thursday blamed the Ministry of Interior for the illegal entry of foreign workers into the country, pointing out that there are parties working to obstruct the work of the Directorate of Residence while searching for foreign workers in the commercial centers and companies in which they work.
Al-Abbadi said in a statement to Al-Maaloumah that "the parliament is playing its role in legislation and addressing the departments concerned with official books to solve the problem of unemployment and the spread of foreign workers illegally and without any licenses for operating companies," noting that "Basra contains a number of operators, Licensed company, one of which is "Shams Al-Sabah", which is working to bring thousands of foreign workers outside the legal framework. "
"There is a weak role for the Ministry of the Interior / Directorate of Residence where it does not exercise its real role because of the lack of cadre. In addition, there are interventions by some parties to stop the implementation of the law against foreign workers deployed in commercial centers and companies."
Abadi stressed the need to "apply Law No. 37 of 2015 to accommodate foreign workers in the legal form and in accordance with the provisions of the law, and the registration of employees of social security companies in order to guarantee their rights and stay away from resorting to government appointment."
