The Supreme Council for Combating Corruption on Tuesday adopted the decisions taken by the Supreme Judicial Council at its last session, which complemented the measures taken by the executive authority in combating corruption systems, especially in the file of border crossings.
"The Supreme Council for Combating Corruption appreciates the decisions taken by the Higher Judicial Council in its session held on July 25, 2019, which was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faik Zaidan," a statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office said.
The statement promised that the decisions "complement the actions taken by the executive branch in combating corruption systems, especially those related to the file of border ports and preventing non-governmental organizations from interfering in the work of ports and taking the most severe penalties against them and what this represents to the regulatory and inspection authorities in the exercise of their role to the fullest extent , As well as related to the file of the scourge of drugs and the maximum penalties for those associated with this scourge, whether users or promoters or traffickers or carriers or intermediaries and what this decision represents support for the government measures taken and approved by the Supreme Council to combat corruption and the obligation of the competent ministries Including the conclusion of bilateral agreements with neighboring countries and regional countries to help Iraq in reducing smuggling operations. "
"The Council also appreciates the role of the Supreme Judicial Council in the steps it has taken in regard to the diagnosis of legal violations in the provinces and holy places in Iraq, thus ensuring the preservation of the sanctity of those places."
The statement pointed out that "the Supreme Council for the fight against corruption as it stresses by the judiciary and its institutions the need to speed in resolving the files related to integrity and the tightening of judicial rulings of their own, and in our role we have been directed to the supervisory and inspection bodies and related to provide the judiciary with all the priorities and necessary evidence that enable him to expedite the decision" .
He added that "the Council expresses its appreciation for such decisions and urges the courts and the judges to issue the most severe judicial verdicts against the accused in cases of financial and administrative corruption and preserve the prestige of the state and its institutions and preserve the sanctity of them."
