{International: Al Furat News} The US Senate has approved the appointment of US Ambassador to Canada, Kelly Kraft, as Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Fifty-six senators voted for her appointment, while 34 opposed.
Democrats criticized the nomination of US President Donald Trump for Kelly Kraft for the post, saying her experience was insufficient to represent America at the United Nations.
The post of US permanent representative to the United Nations has been vacant for seven months, after the departure of former delegate, Nicky Hailey, its functions by the end of last year.
Kelly Craft, 57, served as United States Ambassador to Canada in 2017. In February 2019, President Trump nominated him to the post of Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
