After the end of the first legislative term of the Iraqi parliament, it emerged that five winning members did not take a seat in parliament to the right of the members of the Council.
The names are: Nuri al-Maliki, Haider al-Abadi, Asaad Abdulamir, Basra Governor, Rakan Said, Kirkuk Governor Wakala, Qasim Mohammed al-Araji, former Interior Minister.
According to the rules of procedure of the Parliament, the elected candidate is considered a member of the Council and enjoys all the rights of membership from the date of ratification of the election results and commences his duties after taking the oath of office.
Parliament has promised in advance to dismiss the winning deputies who have not been sworn in.
