Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi is facing a political crisis with his country's parliament aimed at Jordanian-Iraqi relations, informed sources told Okaz newspaper on Thursday.
The Iraqi sources pointed out that attempts by the political blocs to pressure Jordan to hand over Baghdad to Iraqi opponents headed by Raghad, daughter of the late President Saddam Hussein.
Parliamentary sources revealed the pursuit of political blocs to throw the file of wanted Iraqis in Jordan within the trade files between the two countries, and pointed out that the Iraqi government refuses to link this file with trade and economic files.
The sources said that "political blocs have been seeking for some time to stick the file of wanted Iraqis within the files of Iraq and Jordan trade and economic, and the first objective of those pressures may be to thwart any close Arab rapprochement between Iraq and its neighbors."
The Iraqi government refuses to link the trade and economic issues with Jordan to any other political side, while Jordan refuses, according to government sources, any attempt at political blackmail affecting Jordanian sovereignty. Submission to any pressure.
