“In order to meet the many requests from Iraqi citizens wishing to visit Japan as tourists and to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Iraq, the Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Japan Consular Office in Erbil will start issuing all Japanese visa categories. ”
“All applications, except for the cases listed below, must be submitted through accredited travel agencies in Iraq (please refer to the attached list of accredited travel agencies) as of August 20, 2019,” the embassy said.
The Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Japan Consular Office in Erbil will receive the following visa applications directly for the following cases:
1. A visa for those traveling to Japan for diplomatic and official purposes with a formal letter from the relevant authorities in Iraq.
2. A visa for those invited by the Government of Japan or independent administrative agencies in Japan (such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Foundation, JETRO).
3. Visa for scholarship holders from the Government of Japan.
A visa for those in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
The Embassy concluded, `` Please note that as of August 20, 2019, the Embassy of Japan in Jordan and the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai will no longer receive visa applications for Iraqi nationals unless they have a fundamental residency in Jordan or the United Arab Emirates. ''
