BAGHDAD (AFP) - A member of the House of Representatives of the Alliance of Peace March Shammari, on Wednesday, that the continuous increase in the number of visitors to the shrines and religious shrines in Iraq requires the development of long-term plans to expand.
Al-Shammari said in a press statement received by the Euphrates News agency that "what happened yesterday in the holy city of Karbala and during the run Tuwaireej due to the great momentum of visitors and their march towards the completion of this rite, which led to the fall of a number of martyrs and wounded."
He added that "the concerned authorities should expand the rehabilitation and construction of the surrounding shrines of the roads and doors of entry and exit in order to make the holy visits smoothly and without an accident."
The minister of health, Alaa al-Din al-Alwan, announced during his visit to the hospitals of Karbala yesterday evening that the number of martyrs in the stampede at the ceremony of condolences Tuwaireej reached 31 martyrs, including 30 visitors died in the land of the accident and a martyr during his transfer to the hospital, while the number of wounded reached 102, including 9 in critical condition.
