The Saaron coalition attacked Adel Abdul Mahdi's government, accusing it of not being serious about tackling past failures.
The MP for the coalition, Burhan al-Maamouri: "The decision of the Council of Ministers to authorize President Adel Abdul-Mahdi to extend the service of the special grades who have reached the age of retirement, reveals the lack of seriousness in addressing previous failures."
Al-Maamouri called for "retreating from this decision and speeding up the emergence of new young faces to take up positions in special grades provided that they enjoy integrity, efficiency and independence to advance the development of the country."
