Japanese Finance: Crude oil imports fall 11% in August

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's imports of crude oil cleared for customs dropped 11 percent in August from a year earlier, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.
Preliminary data showed that Japan, the fourth largest buyer of crude oil in the world, imported 3 million barrels per day of crude oil last month.
Japan's total LNG imports totaled 6.1 million tonnes last month, down 19.4 percent year-on-year.
Imports of thermal coal used to generate electricity fell 20.5 percent in August to 8.93 million tonnes, the data showed.
