Alia Nassif, a member of the State of Law coalition, said in remarks that "Article 73 of the Constitution obliged Saleh to choose a deputy, which has not been achieved so far, although the political agreements that formed the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi granted the position of first deputy in favor of Nuri al-Maliki."

Nassif sent a veiled threat to President Saleh that Maliki's postponement of his claim to the post did not mean his abdication, but a step on his part to avoid a new political crisis.

She accused Saleh of violating the constitution by continuing his work without choosing a deputy, despite nearly 11 months since he was elected president.

These statements come after the leaks that talked about the selection of Faleh Fayyad, head of the Popular Mobilization Authority as the first deputy in favor of Salim al-Jubouri, former president of the House of Representatives as the second deputy for the Sunni component.
