Iraq is discussing with Russia the construction of a nuclear reactor[/rtl]

Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Integrated Science and Technology Qusai al-Suhail discussed with a Russian delegation on an offer to build a nuclear reactor in Iraq in cooperation with the Russian government.
"The meeting, which took place at the University of Baghdad on Tuesday, briefed the minister on offers made by the Russian state-owned company Ross Atom to build a nuclear reactor for peaceful and medical purposes," the ministry said in a statement.
For his part, the visiting Russian delegation expressed Moscow's readiness and willingness to cooperate with the Iraqi ministries concerned with this project in order to obtain consensus on the project.
Two technical delegations from the two countries will meet before the end of this year to discuss the details of the offer made by the company (Ross Atom), and its compatibility with Iraqi requirements and needs.
The visiting delegation included Russian Minister Plenipotentiary Maxim Litvinov, Ilya Lolov, Commercial Attache at the Russian Embassy in Baghdad, and Artium Stregov, Attaché at the Embassy.
