A member of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Abdul Hadi Saadawi, on Wednesday, the truth of the figures announced in the media on the external debt of Iraq, while referring to ways to solve.

Saadawi said in press statements that "figures circulating in the media and communication sites on the arrival of Iraq's external debt to $ 124 billion, is untrue."

He added that "Iraq's external debt has reached 68 billion dollars, we have stopped external borrowing in the budget of 2019, and we will repeat this in the draft budget law 2020."

He explained that "the Finance Committee recommended that the government in cases of necessity to go towards internal borrowing, specifically from the Iraqi pension fund, not external borrowing."

He stressed that "there are serious indicators confirm that Iraq's continued borrowing abroad will lead to the collapse of the Iraqi state and economy."
