    Economy News _ Baghdad
Saudi Aramco has asked banks to submit proposals for a project financing loan worth more than $ 1 billion, two sources familiar with the matter said.
One source said the government's request for proposals was sent this week.
The sources said it was not immediately clear from the request for proposals the specific nature of the projects in which the funds would be used.
The request was sent to banks a few days after the September 14 attack on two large facilities, triggering fires and damage that halved oil production from the world's top crude exporter by halting 5.7 million barrels per day.
