He added, "We were surprised that 50% of imported products do not pass through the official border outlets, ie through smuggling," stressing that "there are official and informal government forces oversee the entry of goods from meat and other smuggling into the country."
Al-Fahdawi pointed out that "smuggling operations do not stop eggs or chicken, but will go beyond that to the arms trade and a problem." He pointed out that "this requires the intervention of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and the commander of the border police and the Ministry of Defense to reduce the issue of the introduction of smuggled materials into the country."
He continued, a member of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee, that "the loss of control over the border outlets is a threat to the security and sovereignty of the country."
For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee Salam al-Shammari, that "his committee held a dialogue session during which hosted the Minister of Agriculture and Under-Secretaries of the Ministry and the Director-General of the border outlets."
He continued, "The Parliamentary Agricultural Committee has already issued a book accompanied by a number of signatures of deputies in addition to the issuance of a parliamentary resolution to prevent chicken and live fish and frozen as well as red and white eggs."
Al-Shammari stressed that “his committee is continuing to support the local product based on the previous and current discussion session as well as opportunities for conditions on the Ministry of Agriculture to prepare a future plan to expand this agricultural sector to reach self-sufficiency.”
He pointed out that "his committee discussed the support of the lending fund within the Ministry of Agriculture and the support of farmers in all sectors and we will work to ask the Prime Minister to support farmers with long-term loans."
Al-Shammari, that "his committee urged the head of the border outlets to tighten control to reduce the phenomenon of smuggling, as we will work hard with the executive bodies, ministries and departments concerned to close the unofficial border." Finished 25 h
