The chances of Iran firing rockets deep into Israel from Iraq have "greatly increased," an Israeli general warned.
Gen. Dror Shalom, commander of the research brigade in the Military Intelligence Division, Aman, said that Iran 's firing of missiles at Saudi oil installations could be a prelude to launching rockets into Israel, stressing that this scenario is "very realistic."
Shalom, in an interview published Thursday in the Israel Hume newspaper, expected that Qassem Soleimani, commander of the "Qods Force" in the Revolutionary Guards, to oversee the launching of rockets at Israeli depth from Iraq if Tehran decided to do so.
The Israeli general did not rule out the possibility that Iran will use drones capable of long-distance travel, specifically the type used by Tehran in its operations in the Gulf.
He stressed that the situation in the region is getting worse, warning that the chances of a confrontation between Israel and both Iran and Hezbollah increased significantly.
He expected that Israel would succeed in thwarting the precision missile project, which claimed that "Hezbollah" is currently working on it, if it continues its efforts to achieve this goal.
However, such efforts could lead to military confrontations with the party leading to an all-out confrontation
