The North Korean delegation's early comments to the nuclear talks in Sweden "do not reflect the substance or spirit of Saturday's eight-and-a-half hour talks," the State Department said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
She stressed that the US delegation “reviewed a number of new initiatives that would allow us to make progress in each of the four pillars of the Singapore Joint Statement.”

North Korean negotiator Kim Myung-gil, who spent most of Saturday's talks with the US delegation, told reporters outside his country's embassy in Stockholm that the decision was based on the fact that US negotiators "did not change their old view."
"The negotiations did not meet our expectations and eventually collapsed," Gail told reporters through an interpreter.
But the State Department statement said the discussions saw a review of "the US delegation's events since the Singapore summit, and its discussion of the importance of intensive engagement to resolve many issues of concern to both sides."
"The United States has proposed accepting the invitation of our Swedish hosts to return to Stockholm to meet again in two weeks, with a view to continuing discussions on all issues," the statement said.
