WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Joint Air Operations Center has removed Turkey from its air mission in Syria, the Pentagon said on Monday.
This came in press statements by spokeswoman for the US Department of Defense Carla Gleason, where she confirmed that the Center has stopped providing Turkey with surveillance information and exploration.
In response to a question as to whether such a move would be a closure of airspace against the Turkish Air Force, Gleason explained that technically we cannot say that airspace has been closed to Turkish airspace, but when an air mechanism is removed from the arrangement of air missions, its overflights Aerial without coordination is almost impossible.
The Pentagon announced earlier on Monday that the United States does not support the forthcoming Turkish operation in northern Syria and will not be supported by the US military in any way, Washington to distance itself from an operation that threatens the Syrian Kurdish fighters it supports.
Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement that “the Department of Defense has made clear to Turkey, as the president has done, that we do not support any Turkish operation in northern Syria. The US armed forces will not support or participate in any such operation. ”
Hoffman added that Defense Minister Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Miley told their Turkish counterparts that unilateral action would pose a threat to Ankara.
