[rtl]Jordanian efforts to avoid a crisis with Kuwait because of Saddam Hussein[/rtl]
[rtl]Baghdad / Al-Ghad Press:[/rtl]
[rtl]Jordan is trying to overcome a crisis that may be caused by cheers issued by a group within the Jordanian public during a match between the Jordanian team and its Kuwaiti counterpart, as the Jordanian public tried to provoke the Kuwaiti public by chanting the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.[/rtl]
[rtl]The Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held a phone call late Thursday with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, during which he affirmed "the historical relations between Jordan and Kuwait." Kuwait and its people are an offense to Jordan, which we condemn and reject. "[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Safadi said in a statement issued by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry: "Our brotherly relations are stronger than the attempts of those who target them and do not represent Jordan and our values and pride in Kuwait and the bonds of love and respect."[/rtl]
[rtl]According to the same statement, the Jordanian and Kuwaiti foreign ministers stressed that "Jordan and Kuwait continue to strengthen their relations rooted in the hearts of the two peoples."[/rtl]
[rtl]For his part, the Jordanian House of Representatives rejected any prejudice to the depth of Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations, stressing that bilateral relations between the two countries is an example to follow.[/rtl]
[rtl] In a statement, the council condemned any attempt to harm the relationship between the two countries, stressing that "any attempt to undermine the Jordanian-Kuwaiti relationship is an attempt to undermine the relationship, which represents a deep Arab depth."[/rtl]
[rtl] The Jordanian parliament, in the same statement, that "the sister Kuwait represents an Arab space of wisdom and forgiveness, and constitute an Arab legacy in its commitment to the values of nationalism, which puts it at the forefront of the nation in opinion and advice."[/rtl]
[rtl]In its statement, the council said that the long-standing relations between the two countries, which extend for years of continuous trust and coordination, must be respected and pushed forward. The Jordanian people, who recognize Kuwait as a prince, a government, and a parliament, for their unwavering support for their Arab and Islamic nation, where we share issues and attitudes towards our nations and their peoples.[/rtl]
[rtl]For his part, the Jordanian Football Federation rejected the slogans issued by the public, as expressed by its Secretary-General, Cesar Soubar, "strongly rejected the slogans issued outside the sports frameworks and customs and principles promoting values of respect and hospitality, which came out of the category of responsible".[/rtl]
[rtl]Jordanian singers, on social media, also rejected the chants.[/rtl]
[rtl]Kuwait and Jordan have good relations that translate into close cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, tourism, Jordanian employment in Kuwait, military, trade and investment affairs, in addition to Kuwait's supportive stances on Jordan to shoulder the burden of asylum, through various mechanisms.[/rtl]
[rtl]Kuwait has granted Jordan about $ 1.5 billion in development projects in a number of cities in the kingdom as part of a grant approved by the Gulf Cooperation Council for Jordan in 2011.[/rtl]
[rtl]In February, Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak visited Amman, heading a high-level ministerial delegation to chair the meetings of the fourth session of the Higher Committee between the two countries, which resulted in the signing of 28 joint agreements in the fields of economic, investment, industrial, commercial and agricultural, transport and energy in the fields of health, environment, communications and technology. Information, in addition to cultural, political, parliamentary, security and customs.[/rtl]
[rtl]A year ago, the Kuwaiti and Jordanian governments signed a memorandum of understanding that includes Kuwait's contribution to the Mecca Summit pledges, including a $ 500 million deposit in the Central Bank of Jordan and a $ 500 million lending program over five years.[/rtl]
[rtl]Kuwait tops the list of investors in Jordan with about $ 13 billion, spread over various sectors: industrial, commercial, education, banks and others.[/rtl]
