BAGHDAD: The Japanese embassy and consulate offices in Iraq have begun granting visas to their countries.
The Embassy of Japan in Baghdad, announced on August 20 that Tokyo began issuing visas to Iraqis.
"In order to meet the many requests from Iraqi citizens wishing to visit Japan as tourists and to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Iraq, the Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Japan Consular Office in Erbil will start issuing all categories of Japanese visa," the embassy said in a statement.
`` All applications, except for the cases listed below, must be submitted through accredited travel agencies in Iraq as of August 20, 2019, and the Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Japan Consular Office in Erbil will receive the following visa applications immediately. ''
Visa for those traveling to Japan for diplomatic and official purposes With an official letter from the relevant authorities in Iraq.
2. Visa for those invited by the Government of Japan or independent administrative agencies in Japan such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Foundation, Japan Foreign Trade Organization (JETRO).
3. Visa for scholarship holders from the Government of Japan.
A visa for those in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
Please note that as of August 20, 2019, the Embassy of Japan in Jordan and the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai will no longer receive visa applications for Iraqi nationals unless they have a fundamental residency in Jordan or the UAE.
The Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Japan Consular Office in Erbil will receive a “visa fee” once the visa has been granted. Furthermore, the above mentioned agencies will collect an “application fee” for all visa applicants in addition to the “visa fee”.
