James Mitch Ellis, commander of a military contingent, was killed in the United States.
Ellis joined the US Marine Corps and served on active duty from November 1992 to August 1996. After graduating, he earned a master's degree and began working as a civilian.
However, after September 11, 2001, he was recalled to serve his country again and enlisted in the US Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005, where he participated in the invasion of Iraq as a division commander in November 2004.
