Political Front: The government will lose its international legitimacy after Iraq leaves the Human Rights Council

The Salvation and Development Front expressed regret on Friday that Iraq lost its membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council, but did not rule out at the same time that the federal government lose its legitimacy to the international community because of the worsening handling of the demonstrations and the absentee of the Sunni component.
"Although the Permanent Mission of Iraq to the United Nations has made 23 pledges and commitments to maintain and re-nominate the Council, the Council has not been convinced of these commitments and obligations owing to the human rights situation in Iraq and unlawful arrest and detention procedures," the statement said. "Iraq's loss of its seat at the Human Rights Council in Geneva is a clear message from the international community to the Iraqi government that its file in addressing human rights violations is worsening as it tries to suppress the right to peaceful demonstration, besieging voices calling for change, fighting corruption, providing basic services, employing the unemployed and reconstruction," the statement said. The liberated areas, the return of the displaced, the reform of the administrative, judicial and political system, the improvement of social protection networks, the activation of the private sector with the aim of eliminating unemployment, as well as its weak management of diversity and achieving equality among Iraqis in accordance with the Constitution. He said that the current government and its predecessors insisted on the absence of genuine components from the scene of real political representation that achieves balance and justice in the state administration.
The statement pointed out that "the restoration of Iraq's international role in the field of human rights and commensurate with the size of international commitments and agreements signed by Iraq in the field of human rights must stem from the obligations of the Iraqi government to apply its commitments internationally to its people first before they are just a front to polish The image of the Iraqi government at the international level, and this will only be a real activation of the principles of the Iraqi Constitution, especially those relating to public freedoms and the first of which is the activation of the principle of citizenship, equality, justice, the rule of law, transparency and integrity and the fight against corruption, fraud and cronyism.
"The insistence of the Iraqi government on ignoring the file of human rights and public freedoms will not lose international support, but will lose the most basic pillars of good governance, legitimacy and legitimacy, as the failure to abide by the human rights provisions of the Constitution will lose the political legitimacy from which it derives its rule."
On Thursday, Iraq lost its membership in the UN Human Rights Council in the four-seat Asian Group competition to Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and the Marshall Islands.
