Pentagon separates Amazon from Microsoft[/rtl]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Microsoft has won a contract to build a $ 10 billion cloud computing system, the Pentagon said on Wednesday.
Under the contract, Microsoft will provide a cloud infrastructure network to "improve the speed and effectiveness of the technical capabilities of the armed forces," according to Defense Department information officer Dania Desi.
Granting the deal to Microsoft was a failure for Amazon, which was expected to win, the Wall Street Journal said.
