    The parliamentary legal committee voted on Sunday to exclude dual nationals from the right to stand for parliamentary elections.
    The Information Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hassan al-Kaabi, in a statement received / information / a copy of it, the latter "chaired the meeting of the parliamentary legal committee to discuss the draft law on the elections of the House of Representatives and the law of the Supreme Independent Electoral Commission in preparation for their adoption during the next few sessions."
    Al-Kaabi pointed out, according to the statement, that "the Presidency of the Council of Representatives seeks to approve the two laws simultaneously because of their association with the democratic process and the first step in the approach of change and reform," pointing to the need to focus on the independence of the Commission and its management away from partisan and political interventions and the requirement of judges, professors and technical experts to ensure outputs A transparent and credible election that meets the true aspirations of the masses and calls for reform. ”
    The statement added that "during the meeting discussed several substantive items in the draft electoral law and the Commission's law, where it was decided to add some items that the Commission found important, including the exclusion of dual nationality from the right to stand for election, as well as the exclusion of a large number of those charged with sovereign and executive functions from the right to run as well, As well as reducing the number of Council members to 242 seats distributed to the provinces with the addition of 9 seats quota components.
