WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has refuted a report by The Wall Street Journal about Washington's plans to deploy an additional 14,000 US troops in the Middle East.
"The Wall Street Journal report is incorrect. The United States is not considering sending an additional 14,000 troops to the Middle East," Pentagon spokeswoman Elissa Farah wrote on Twitter.
The newspaper reported earlier that the administration of President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of deploying 14 thousand additional troops in the Middle East to face the growing threat from Iran.
According to the paper, the decision to send the military, along with dozens of ships and other military equipment to the Middle East, could be made by Trump within this month.
