The Legal Committee confirmed, on Thursday, that the judiciary is considered an electoral district dependent on the commission obtaining accurate information regarding the number of districts, because there is a difference in the number of districts between the Ministry of Planning and the Electoral Commission and the provincial councils, noting that if the information unit is not obtained, we will go to the second option.
Member of the Committee, Deputy Yonadam Kanna, said in a statement to "The Information", that "the main problem facing the upcoming Parliament election bill is the difference in information regarding the number of districts, given that the electoral district is at the level of a district."
He added that “the committee was provided from three sides about the number of districts, all of which differ in numbers, as the Electoral Commission provided us with 329 districts throughout the country, while the Ministry of Planning stated that the number of districts is 140, while governorate councils say 163 and 5 are different, i.e. the total is 168, so the committee cannot guarantee The constituency is a district unless we provide accurate information about the number of districts.
Kanna, who is the head of the Rafidain bloc, pointed out that "in the absence of accurate and certain information, we will probably go to the second option, considering the governorate is one department." Ended in / 25 pm
