The General Mineral Industries Corporation of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced, on Sunday, that it would equip the Korean Hanwha company with types of asphalt products.
The general manager of the company, Yusef Mohamed Jassem, said in a statement seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", to "a meeting with representatives of the Korean company to agree on the required quantities and timing for processing during the current month of December and the coming months with their asphalt products of both types of cat-buck (RC 70) and (MC) 30) to qualify and develop the air base in Essaouira.
He added: "The supply contract is renewable and according to the qualities and quantities it needs and is determined by the Korean company, as the General Company for Mining Industries is the only company and uniquely supplies the public and private sectors and foreign companies with types of asphalt products, as it previously supplied the Korean company with the quantities and types required of these products during the months of October And the last two months.
"The Korean company is heading towards the acquisition of the local product, a qualitative leap in dealing with foreign companies, and the best evidence is that the local product matches the foreign product and meets the standard specifications," Jasim said.
The general manager explained that "the company is also supplying the Municipality of Baghdad and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities with their asphalt products for use in paving and covering roads in Baghdad and the provinces and according to the required quantities."
He called on the Ministry of Oil to "cooperate and support the company by providing it with the raw material it needs to fulfill all processing requests from the public and private sectors and advance the company's productive and financial performance."
