    Shafaq News / The Supreme Judicial Council elected on Monday seven judiciary to fill the positions of members of the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq.
    Council media said in a statement that after the drawing of lots by the Supreme Judicial Council, judges Abbas Farhan Hassan, Jalil Adnan Khalaf, Amer Musa Muhammad, Fayyad Hussein Yassin, Ali Rashid and state advisers, Inaam Yassin Muhammad and Fatah Muhammad Yassin, were chosen as members of the Electoral Commission Council.
    The media said that within days, the judges of the Kurdistan Region will be drawn to vote, as they will start their work as members of the Electoral Commission.
    The elected judges will elect a president, according to a judicial source.
    The Supreme Judicial Council, earlier in the day, expressed its objection to the presence of judges in the Electoral Commission, as the Supreme Judicial Council was an independent body.
    The council also decided that the appellate areas be divided into two groups, and a lottery will be held to select the five candidates from the judges into two groups.
    According to a statement issued by the Council, the Supreme Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region has been approached to send candidates who meet the conditions stipulated in the law representing the provinces of the region.
    Article 3 of the Independent High Electoral Commission Law, which the parliament enacted at the beginning of this month, stipulates that the Board of Commissioners should consist of nine members, as follows:
    First: Five of the first class judges chosen by the Supreme Judicial Council from among the total candidates, taking into account justice between the appellate regions.
    Second: Two of the first class judges chosen by the Supreme Judicial Council from among all the candidates sent by the Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region, taking into account their distribution to the appellate regions in the region.
    Third: Two members of the State Council are exclusively consultants and candidates from the State Council are chosen by the Supreme Judicial Council.
    Fourth: Those mentioned in the items (first, second and third) are chosen by direct lot in the Supreme Judicial Council in the presence of the representative of the United Nations and whoever desires from the media, organizations and unions.
    Fifth: Women should be represented in the selection of the Board of Commissioners for the nine members.

    Alsumaria News, on Monday, will publish the names of the judges as part of the lottery for the election commission members during a lottery held today in the presence of the media.

    On Monday, the Supreme Judicial Council held the lottery for the members of the Electoral Commission Council.
    The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated, in a statement that after the drawing of lots, the selection was made for “Judges Abbas Farhan Hassan, Jalil Adnan Khalaf, Amer Musa Muhammad, Fayyad Hussein Yassin, and Ali Rashid.”
    He pointed out that the choice was made on "state counselors Inaam Yassin Mohamed and Fattah Muhammad Yassin as members of the Electoral Commission Council."
    He pointed out that "the draw for the judges of the Kurdistan region will take place after days, and they will start their work as members of the Electoral Commission, and after that they will elect a president for them among them."
    In a statement, the council had confirmed that it had lodged an objection to the presence of judges in the Electoral Commission, as the judiciary is an independent body.
    Noting that "the Supreme Judicial Council will proceed with the procedures for selecting judges for the Electoral Commission, despite objections to the presence of judges within the Council."
    The council also indicated that it had written a letter to Kurdistan regarding sending the region's candidates to the Electoral Commission. End (Kh, m)
