On Thursday, the Ministry of Industry announced that it had signed a contract to establish a petrochemical city in Basra covering [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] need for all petrochemical industries, stating that its construction would take from three to five years.
"The Ministry of Industry has a petrochemical plant in Basra, which is undergoing rehabilitation in its final stages," industry spokesman Morteza Al-Safi told Al-Maalouma.

He explained that "a contract has been signed for the establishment of an integrated petrochemical city in Basra," noting that "this city attracts about 2500 holders of certificates as well as thousands of manpower."
