The Saudi king blesses the founding of the Council of Arab and African States bordering the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
The Saudi monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, blessed the founding of the Council of Arab and African States bordering the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, appreciating the signing of the Council’s Charter.
And the Saudi News Agency / SPA / reported that the Saudi king met in Riyadh yesterday, the foreign ministers of Arab and African countries bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues related to ways of developing joint cooperation between them, in a manner that enhances security and stability in the region. Prince Faisal added that the new council «represents a joint effort by the countries of the region to preserve their security and gains, cooperation, consultation and coordination among them in a manner that realizes the interests of all the peoples of the region, as the countries of the region have common interests, and the dangers associated with them are common, and it is going through a very sensitive stage.
For his part, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Foreign Minister, said that the signing of the pact comes as a gesture from the leaders of the eight countries of the importance of coordination and consultation on the vital waterway, which represents economic, commercial and investment importance for the entire global economy, considering that the Red Sea is the main crossing for global trade between East Asian countries And Europe.
The eight signatories to the charter are Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen, Somalia and Eritrea, and the council’s headquarters will be in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
