Fao's large port creates 100,000 jobs

The Iraqi Ports Company announced friday that the great port of Faw will provide more than 100,000 jobs for the people of Basra
Alaa Askar, director of relations and media at the Iraqi Port Company, told The Iraqi News Agency (AAA) that "work at the large port of Faw is in full swing and is expected to open in a maximum of three years, which is an important achievement to revive the economic and commercial situation of the province and Iraq."
"The port will create 100,000 jobs in Basra province, thereby reviving and stimulating the economic, living and service situation," he said.
"The port will include 100 piers and will include an industrial city, a naval base, tourist and recreational facilities and residential areas," Askar said.
The Ministry of Transport said earlier that "the completion of the Fao port project is expected to be completed in 2022, noting that it will be able to receive the largest ships and will contain 100 berths with a capacity of 99 million tons per year, which will revive the country economically, especially basra province."
