The Ministry of Industry confirmed the possibility of meeting 50 percent of the market demand for medicines during the current year.
Rafid Abdul Jalil Jabbar, Deputy Director General of the Technical Department of the Pharmaceutical Industry in the Ministry of Industry said: "The production of the drug did not cover more than 25 percent of the local need, and we hope at the end of the year 2020 to cover 50 percent of the market need, despite the presence of a lot of Obstacles, especially after merging the companies together in the Ministry of Industry.
He stressed: "The importance of the Ministry of Health not importing any medicine, except after the Ministry of Industry's apology for covering the request," calling on the rest of the ministries to give their needs to the Ministry of Planning and to circulate the latter at the beginning of each year their needs, not only for the medication but also for medical supplies, being no less important for medicines and treatments. "
