The head of the Bar Association, Diaa Al-Saadi, stressed on Tuesday the importance of the "effective" role of the judiciary in the "sensitive" stage the country is going through, considering that the administration of the country by relying on the judiciary at present is a "sure guarantee" to come up with solutions that are compatible with the people's will and the country's interest.
The media office of the Bar Association said in a statement that "the Iraqi Bar Association received, today, Tuesday, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faeq Zidan, to discuss the most important professional and national issues common to both sides."
The statement added, "The two sides discussed about several requests related to the work of lawyers, the most important of which are related to the fees of a delegated lawyer, while the two parties agreed to approach the House of Representatives and its legal committee by allocating a special section to the budget of the financial council to ensure the rapid exchange of assignment fees."
And the head of the Bar Association, Diaa Al-Saadi, reviewed, according to the statement, "the most important common between the judiciary and the lawyers, as they are the two wings of justice in solidarity for the protection of rights and the rule of law," noting that "these roles cannot be performed unless the judges understand the essential role of the lawyer and show the necessary cooperation for that."
Al-Saadi pointed out, "The importance of the effective role of the judiciary in the sensitive stage the country is going through," stressing that "the judiciary is qualified by virtue of its experience and its ability to provide appropriate solutions to the crises that Iraq is going through, while relying on the basic principle of respecting the will of the people."
He considered that “managing the country by relying on the judiciary at the critical time we live in and in cooperation with trade unions and professional associations is a sure guarantee to come up with possible solutions that are compatible with the people's will and the interest of the country.” He continued, “It is imperative to hand over the government administration to the judiciary, in a transitional stage that oversees a procedure Early and fair elections in cooperation with the new Electoral Commission and the new election law.
For his part, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faeq Zaidan, stressed the "need to open the doors for lawyers, and not to hinder their actions, according to the provisions of the law," noting that "dealing with a lawyer is one of the sensitive issues that must be taken into account by the judges."
Zidan pointed out that "the investigating judges should direct the security agencies associated with them with the need to take into account the requests of the lawyers and facilitate their work."
