, US Assistant Secretary of Defense, Jonathan Hoffman, announced that the US military is moving its forces from its bases in Iraq to "safer places", against the background of attacks on these bases.
While Hoffman did not reveal the new destination for US forces, he said: "During the past weeks, we have implemented some moves, to strengthen our forces and move them to safer locations."
Hoffman stressed that the location of the deployment of the forces depends on the field commanders who decide where the American forces should be and where they can exercise training and operations to combat "ISIS". He said, "Field commanders determine the best place to protect the forces."
Regarding US actions in Syria, Hoffman said: "Our goals remain the same, and we continue to weaken ISIS and carry out operations in this framework."
The American army admitted Thursday that 11 of its soldiers were wounded, complaining of symptoms of concussion of the brain as a result of the Iranian missile attack on January 8 on a base where American forces are stationed in Iraq, after he had initially denied any injuries to his soldiers.
On January 8, Iran retaliated with a missile strike at two American bases in Iraq, against the assassination of the Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, who Washington announced had killed him with an air strike at Baghdad airport on January 3.
