The United States has commented on targeting its travel in Iraq, calling for the protection of American diplomatic facilities, after three missiles hit the US embassy in Baghdad.
"We call on the government of Iraq to fulfill its obligations to protect our diplomatic facilities," a State Department spokesman said in a statement.
"Since September, there have been more than 14 attacks by Iran and Iranian-backed factions against American employees in Iraq," he added.
"The security situation remains tense, and the Iranian-backed armed groups remain a threat. Therefore, we remain vigilant," the spokesman added.
The US embassy did not respond to comment on the attack, nor was it possible to confirm whether the wounded was an American citizen or an Iraqi employee working for the mission.
The US diplomatic mission has come under several missile attacks in recent months, but Sunday's attack, the second in a week, was earlier than usual. This is the first time that a direct hit has been announced. Ended 29 / A 43
