The Ministry of Electricity confirmed on Tuesday that Iraq is still exempt from [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/96772/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D9%82%D9%88%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%AA %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%B1%D9%83%D9%8A%D8%A9][size=13]the US sanctions[/url] imposed on Iran, indicating that the Iranian side is currently pumping nearly 3 million cubic feet out of the agreed amount of 25 million cubic feet.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Ahmad Al-Abadi, said in a statement that “Iraq has so far been exempt from these penalties with regard to electrical energy and gas supplies, especially as Iraq pays the Iranian side in the Iraqi dinar.”
Al-Abadi added, “The exemption lasts for four months and it is hoped that it will be extended after that due to the urgent need of Iraq for electricity and that the ministry imports gas from the Iranian side, in addition to electric energy of 1200 megawatts, despite this ministry is going to implement the fuel plan that extends for three years in coordination with the Ministry Oil to eliminate the need for Iranian gas. ”
