The trend towards NATO presence with the international coalition in Iraq

Security analysts have confirmed the need for NATO forces to be present on Iraqi soil to perform training tasks, exchange information and the war on terror, while pointing to the need for other foreign forces to remain in the country.
Today, Wednesday, Arab media outlets reported on a meeting between Iraqi and NATO officials in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to discuss a greater role for the alliance on Iraqi soil, while no Iraqi official or government agency denied the validity of the meeting.
Security and political analyst Dr. Wathiq Al Hashemi, head of the Iraqi Group for Strategic Studies, said in a special statement to PUKmedia , on Wednesday: that NATO forces have dialogues and a training program for the Iraqi security forces, started since the Abadi government and continued until the time of the Adel Abdul Mahdi government, pointing out that among the lines The agreement is that Iraq does not send trainees to Brussels or other countries, but the trainers come to the country for these tasks.
Hashemi added: It is difficult to talk about this matter, unless the meeting discusses other issues such as the topics of the war on terrorism and the exchange of information, explaining that the work of NATO forces in Iraq is limited to security monitors, noting that the news that was circulated by some Arab media and not confirmed by Iraq Officially so far, the fate of NATO trainers may be examined, such as downsizing, extending or ending their work.
Parallel to this, security analyst Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharifi stated: NATO wants to find what is called Arab NATO.
Al-Sharifi told PUKmedia on Wednesday that NATO wants, within the strategy of US President Donald Trump, to find what is called regional or Arab NATO.
He added: This matter leads to a kind of integration in the performance of combat missions between the countries of the region, pointing out that this is a transient issue but rather an integral part of a decision taken by the Security Council on the need to unify the capabilities and efforts to combat terrorism in cross-border operations, provided that it be The pursuit goal is internationally defined as terrorism, and that cooperation is conditional on the cooperation of member states.
And he made clear that the decision taken under the parliament to remove foreign forces from Iraq is a non-binding decision, neither domestically nor internationally, for its intersection with international law and the options of the United Nations. Objection to strategic decisions.
Al-Sharifi said: It is on the level of managing the modern battle that we need the presence of the American forces as a support effort, and thus the American forces will not be dispensed.
Hisham Al Hashemi, an expert in security affairs, stressed that Iraq cannot do without American forces.
Hashemi said in a special statement to PUKmedia , on Wednesday 29/1/2020, that the sessions on scheduling the departure of US forces from Iraq will begin, "noting that the decision to leave these forces in all cases awaits the new prime minister."
Al-Hashemi indicated that if such a decision was taken, it would take a year as a minimum for the total withdrawal of Americans as combat forces, noting that Iraq would not dispense with American headquarters that have technical and intelligence roles, training and consulting, because it has no alternative.
Diamond Fadel, a deputy for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc in the House of Representatives, confirmed on Wednesday, the difficulty of entering the decision to bring foreign forces into effect, pointing out that the decision came under street pressure.
Fadel said in a special statement to PUKmedia : The decision did not become law and came under street pressure, explaining, that it is difficult to implement because the decision is mainly a government matter.
She added: The government can cancel its agreement with Washington, provided that the withdrawal takes place after a year, pointing out that Baghdad has to hand over large sums of money to the United States if it wants to end its agreement, stressing the difficulty of removing American forces in Iraq.
