On Friday, the Digital Media Center revealed leaking personal information of thousands of Iraqis applying for Hajj through the official website of the Martyrs Foundation, calling on Iraqi government institutions to avoid these disastrous mistakes that affect the privacy of the citizen .
The center said in a statement today, (January 31, 2020), "The Iraqi government institutions have again failed to maintain their digital security, after the data for thousands of pilgrims from the families of the martyrs were leaked through the official website of the Martyrs Foundation . "
He added, "The information of more than 16,800 Iraqi citizens who submitted for Hajj via the electronic form for the families of the martyrs for the year 2020 through the official website of the Martyrs Foundation, is available without encryption on the Internet monitored by the Center for several hours on Sunday, January 26/2020 before it is fixed and addressed. The error".
The center clarified, "The data that was published includes personal information, including the full name of the residence address, the phone numbers of the applicant, his relatives and denomination, and medical reports that include the physical and mental condition, which is information for citizens . "
He warned that "this information may have been exploited in the offense, infiltration, or data collection of citizens that allow electronic fraud and extortion," calling on "state and private state institutions to avoid these catastrophic mistakes that affect the privacy of the citizen."
