What confirms that concern is a member of the Iraqi parliament, Latif Al-Warshan, who said to the "Iraq solution" that "all the repression suffered by the protests are seen by some political blocs, personalities and officials in the Iraqi government as part of self-defense."
Noting, "Iraqi officials fear the demonstrators because they believe that the arrival of the protesters to positions of authority and the overthrow of the political system means that they will be at the expense of the international courts, especially since the majority of Iraqi officials are involved in crimes."

And he added, "The continuation of the protesters and the dependence on peaceful methods will eliminate the corrupt", saying, "The demonstrators must reject any call to bear arms or attack the public property in any pretext, because these actions affect the reputation of the protests."
Stressing that "the countries of the world, human rights organizations and international civil society all support the Iraqi protesters and want them to continue the peaceful demonstration, because its results will be radical and judge for the Iraqi regime."
Witnessing [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and cities in central and southern [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] protests since the first of October 2019 until now, during which demonstrators subjected to a campaign of arrests, physical and qualifying, and the suppression of a series of attacks, carried out by militias close to the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .
According to unofficial statistics, the death toll from the popular protests reached 700 people, and more than 25,000 wounded since October 1 last year and until the end of January.
Despite international assurances of excessive violence against Iraqis in the arenas, the Iraqi government still refuses to comment, and even questions the published figures, and considers them astronomical.
