, parliamentary sources confirmed on Friday that the parliament will hold an extraordinary session next Monday to give confidence to the government of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi.
Today, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Al-Kaabi, announced that Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has sent an official letter to Parliament requesting an extraordinary session to vote on the new government.
And the Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted unnamed sources as saying that "the parliament will hold an extraordinary session next Monday after sending a letter from Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, requesting the session and also at the request of members of the parliament."
The sources added, "The number of deputies who asked for the session to be held reached 76 signatures and more and according to the provisions of Article 58 of the Constitution, the extraordinary session must be held to vote on the ministerial curriculum and the government booth of the commissioner, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi."
