(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Border Ports Authority announced, on Saturday, the continuation of commercial traffic with Iran, indicating that the exchange takes place provided that the incoming vehicle drivers are examined.
These measures come after the spread of the Corona virus in the Iranian city of Qom, which caused many deaths and cases.
"The meetings of the Special Committee to Combat the Corona Virus, according to Diwaniyah 55 for 2020, are continuing and at a high rate to discuss taking some additional preventive measures to combat Corona virus entry into the country," Omar al-Waeli, the head of the organization, said in a statement received by Al Furat News.
Al-Waeli stressed that "the Diwaniyah order meeting chaired by the Minister of Health and the membership of the relevant departments as well as the Border Ports Authority have taken a series of binding directives, including that Iraqi arriving travelers are subjected to examination by the medical detachments present in the border ports, and preventing the reception of Iranian and foreign travelers alike during A period of (3) days to be informed of the latest developments regarding the disease.
Al-Waeli added that "the meeting committee advises the Iraqis not to travel to Iran out of concern for their safety, and affirms that the commercial movement between the two countries continues, provided that the owners of vehicles (drivers) involved in trade exchange are subjected to medical examination and take the necessary preventive measures."
And the president of the Commission stated that "what is being presented of measures that will be followed by other measures in light of developments on the ground and in high coordination with the World Health Organization, and that the committee agreed in its meeting with the Iranian ambassador in Iraq to invite the presence of the Iranian Minister of Health to find out the latest health developments and their measures taken on the Corona virus The committee is not in a position to make subsequent decisions according to health data and developments.
