Deputy: Allawi's call to hold an extraordinary session to vote on granting confidence to his government an explicit legal violation
Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Hussein Al-Oqabi, affirmed that "inviting the Prime Minister-designate to hold an extraordinary session on Monday to vote on granting confidence to his interim government is a clear legal violation."
He pointed out that "the call for the sessions takes place exclusively through the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, and it is they who determine the date and timing of the session."
He added that "the internal system of the House of Representatives granted the authority to hold sessions, invite them and direct the representatives to attend the presidency of the parliament, and there is no other endeavor outside that legal and constitutional context.
