The US State Department announced today, Wednesday, the inclusion of the Secretary General of the "Hezbollah Brigades" in Iraq, Ahmed Al-Hamdawi on the list of "international terrorist specials."
The coordinator at the US State Department, Nathan Sills, told a press conference that the "Hezbollah Brigades" group is responsible for many terrorist attacks against American and coalition forces in Iraq, including the missile attack on an air base near Kirkuk in December 2019, In which the American citizen Nawras Hamid was killed.
He explained that these measures "target the resources on which Hamdawi depends ... and deprive (the Hezbollah Brigades) of the resources that they need to plan and carry out attacks in the future."
Sills recalled that the US State Department included "Hezbollah Brigades" on the terrorist list in 2009.
"Today, we are increasing our pressure on this terrorist group," the official continued, accusing it of "still planning terrorist operations against American forces, their partners and innocent Iraqi civilians ... under the guidance of their owners in Tehran."
